OEM PVC Trunking Procurement: From Drawing to Approved Sample
An effective OEM enquiry defines the product and acceptance criteria before comparing quotes. A clear drawing and an agreed sample reduce the risk of receiving a profile that looks similar but does not fit the intended system.
Define the profile
Supply a dimensioned cross-section, length, wall thickness and tolerances. Identify the cover design, partitions, mounting holes and accessory interfaces. Mark the drawing revision and explain which dimensions are critical to lid retention or compatibility.
Specify colour and finish
Provide a colour reference or an approved physical sample. Describe the surface finish and any logo, printing or label requirements. Ask how colour and print quality will be approved; screen images alone are not a reliable colour standard.
List the evidence you need
State the destination market, installation use and required standards or declarations. Request documents for the proposed product and material. Factory management certification, material test results and product compliance documents answer different questions, so keep their scopes separate.
Approve the sample and checks
Agree the dimensional checks, appearance criteria, lid fit and any accessory assembly checks. Record the approved sample, drawing and packaging specification. Define the inspection and acceptance method with the supplier before placing the production order.
Compare complete quotes
Compare the same profile, material requirements, lengths, accessory list, quantities and packaging. Clarify tooling charges where relevant, sample arrangements, minimum order quantities, production lead time, payment terms and the delivery basis. These are quote-specific terms; do not assume one published figure applies to every customised order.
Prepare delivery and repeat orders
Confirm carton dimensions, labels, protection of long profiles and documents needed by the receiving team. Keep revision control for repeat orders so a colour, drawing or packaging change does not silently become the new specification.
Budgie’s existing service pages describe design and tooling, packaging and technical support. Use these with your specification to discuss what is available for the proposed product. Send quantities by size and the destination market for a useful quotation.
