Cable Management for Offices
Office cable routes need to follow the furniture and outlet plan. Refurbishments may also need access for future changes without reopening a wall.
Map the working area
Mark desks, meeting rooms, printers, shared work areas and communications points. Record the cable schedule and agree which routes need separate power and data channels. Include existing service points and planned additions.
Compare the route options
Consider dado trunking for perimeter routes with outlets and multiple channels. Compare mini, medium or maxi trunking where the route only needs cable containment. Confirm usable internal space, cover access and the exact corner, tee and outlet-box system.
Check accessibility in the installed layout
Review the route behind desks and furniture, changes in wall direction and the space needed to remove covers. Check the cable bend radius and the installation designer’s separation requirements. A partition count alone does not prove electrical or EMC compliance.
Prepare an office enquiry
- Room plan with outlet locations and mounting heights.
- Power and data cable schedule.
- Profile dimensions, colour and quantities.
- Compatible boxes, covers and fittings.
- Project country and required product documentation.
This is an application planning guide. The final route and product specification should be approved against the project’s requirements.
